1. WHMIS — Certificate (PDF)

On October 29th, I took an online course for my WHMIS certification. When working in a science classroom, having knowledge of WHMIS is incredibly important as a student, but even more so as a teacher. These courses provide educators and pupils with foundational concepts such as general lab safety, safe handling procedures, and how to prevent hazards as well as dealing with them when they occur. Having these tools in one’s belt is crucial in a class or lab setting because, as a teacher, your student’s safety should be your top priority at all times.

2. PAL — Midterm & Final Reviews (PDFs)

From October of 2023 to April of 2025, I served as a Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) leader in UNB’s Faculty of Science. I prepared and facilitated review sessions and lessons for students seeking support with course concepts. This strengthened my own disciplinary understanding and pushed me to adapt instruction to reach diverse learners.

3. Science 9 Electricity Unit — Lessons & Resources (PDFs)

During my first practicum placement at Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School in November and December of 2025, I taught the science 9 electricity unit. I had worked on an electricity unit plan for science 9 in my Secondary Science Curriculum and Instruction Course before the practicum placement. During the placement I had adapted and changed some of the lessons, and due to inclement weather, and school scheduling, I had to change my approach to certain topics as the time between lessons was often 1 or 2 days minimum so topics had to be reviewed more often than if I taught the students ever day so some lesson plans actually were stretched over 2 or 3 lessons rather than 1. During the practicum I did a static electricity lab with the students, 2 quizzes on circuits, and an assignment. Before I had finished the placement, I made a question bank for my associate teacher to use when creating their exam for the first half of the course as well. Overall, the unit was well received but I believe has room for improvement in the future.
