1. Positive Spaces 1 — Certificate

I attended the Positive Spaces 1 seminar on October 23rd, 2025. This presentation provided valuable insight into how I, as a pre-service teacher, can try to ensure that my classroom is known as a safe space for any and all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As a member of the community myself, I am very aware of the fact that there is always more to learn, and thanks to this seminar, I have learned new terms and gained much perspective that I will be able to use to maintain a positive space in my class, as it is crucially important to me that every student feels valued for being the best, truest version of themselves.

2. Treaty Day — Certificate

I attended a professional development day on Treaty Day (October 1st, 2025). Making sure that diverse cultures are not only respected, but celebrated in my classroom is a very important factor in my philosophy as a teacher. On treaty day, I am so very thankfully that I was able to dive deeper into the culture of the people who’s ancestral and unceded territory we teach, learn, and live on. After attending the sessions hosted on treaty day, I have gained much knowledge about the history surrounding Indigenous culture, as well as the colonization and oppression the Indigenous people have faced. We are all treaty people, and it is up to all of us to learn from the past and move to a brighter future.
